AppleRumors iPhone app 1.2 going live!
Sorry guys, I’ve been pretty busy with school. The first two days and I already have tons of homework! What?! I do have enough time right before bed to pump out this post. AppleRumors the iPhone app has been approved. It will fix all the crashing issues with 3.x devices!!! I also added some much needed styling to the reading interface.
After attack, Apple is updating support forums
After a hacker got in and disrupted the Apple support forums, Apple has announced that they will be bringing “major changes” to the forums.
Greetings,
Very soon a major change will be taking place here at Apple Discussions. To help you prepare we have created some documents to give some insight and instructions on this major upgrade.
If you visit this thread, Apple highlights the new changes that are coming. The Apple support forums have been needing updates, they have lagged behind the developer forums which are far a head of what Apple currently has set up for the normal forums.
Axon-Logic releases a $750 tablet that supports full OSX
Well here is an interesting bit of news, Axon-Logic has released a tablet PC that can run Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux for $750. I’m wondering how long its going to take Apple to send their legal team off to see Axon. They do note on their site that if you install OSX on the tablet its violating the EULA, but they are clearly still targeting people would like to try to see what OSX would be like on a touch screen tablet.
They don’t offer a press release just yet. It looks like they are still getting it together.
On a side personal note, their site is horribly designed. It is literally all images.
Jailbreak uses Apples PDF reader exploit to execute
The jailbreak that was released yesterday by Comex actually uses an exploit found in Apples PDF reader built into iOS. Apple patched this issue for the Mac a little while back but has yet to actually patch this issue for iOS and it poses a huge security threat.
Back when the 1.1.1 jailbreak was released, you were able to do it right from the browser because of a similar security hole. This hole was actually patched by the jailbreak after it was done, but in the most recent case, we don’t think it gets patched.

OWC says getting your own SSD into the new iMacs is hard
Other world computing (or OWC) has got their hands on a brand new iMac, and tore it down. Usually this is iFixits job but OWC was interested in seeing how hard it would be to install your own SSD as a second drive. Like you would expect, its hard.
The bad news is that, unless your Mid 2010 iMac originally came with an Apple SSD, there’s no graceful way to install an OWC one. The appropriate mounting bracket and connector cables are nowhere to be found on the non-SSD models.
This unfortunate development continues Apple’s proclivity toward making the iMac’s inner workings less “accessible” than they could (or some may say “should”) be.
iMacs have always been hard to work on, so there really isn’t any real surprise here. The real surprise though, is that Apple does not include any cables for the second drive to be put in.
Apple invites local users to join them in Philadelphia Apple Store opening
Today Apple has started sending invites to all local residents in the Philadelphia City area. Those who visit the store when it opens can buy a One to One membership, which is usually a deal only people who buy a brand new Mac can get. That offer is only for the first 250 people. You also get a free commemorative T-Shirt while supplies last.
Come to the new Apple Store, Walnut Street, and bring your curiosity. It’s the best place to get set up with the new iPhone 4, learn all about the Mac, see the amazing things iPad can do—even get advice for your business. When you get to the store, find a Specialist in a blue shirt—they’re your guides to everything from checking in for an appointment to checking out instantly. In celebration of our new store, current Mac owners can buy a One to One membership—normally available only with the purchase of a new Mac.* And if you’re one of the first 1000 customers, you’ll get a free commemorative T-shirt.**

Free Bumpers start to arrive
A few lucky people have already started receiving their free bumpers from Apple. Some sites reported that Apple started shipping their bumpers earlier in the week and some from last week.
We aren’t sure if anyone who have chose a 3rd party case have received theirs yet, but we chose a bumper and ours still says September.. Apple still taking their time.
Safari 5.01 Fixes Autofill vulnerability
In Safari 5.01 Apple has patched the issue where if you have the “autofiill web forms using my Address Contact Card” box checked in your Safari preferences a hacker with a simple block of javascript can get your name, city, company, email, and state.
If you would like to test this yourself you can go to this page and click start. It will run the test.
iDygest gets an update!
Today Apple approved iDygest version 1.2. This version fixes the blurry text issue on the iPhone 4. Earlier in the year I said that iDygest was the best Apple news app out there, and I stand by that.
I’ve actually had time to review, and test this version for about a week, and I have to tell you, its nice. No crashes, and it looks great on an iPhone 4. So if you haven’t tried it or haven’t updated download here!
